What makes a Sudoku “easy”?
Many websites rate a Sudoku only by how many numbers are given. We do it differently: each puzzle is solved by a computer that uses the same techniques a person would, and the level is set by the hardest technique it needs. An Easy puzzle only ever needs singles:
- Naked single – a square where eight of the nine numbers are already used in its row, column or box, so only one is left.
- Hidden single – a number that can only go in one square of a row, column or box.
Easy puzzles also start with about 37 numbers filled in, so there is always a next step to find. You will never need to guess.
Help when you need it
Tap 💡 Hint and the game explains the next logical step in plain words, pointing at the square and the reason, rather than simply filling in the answer. Mistakes can be shown in red (you can turn this off), and Undo and Redo are unlimited.
