Not every Klondike deal can be won
In a randomly shuffled Klondike game, some deals are impossible: a key card is buried where no sequence of moves can reach it. Players often cannot tell whether they made a mistake or the deal was hopeless from the start. That uncertainty is one of the most frustrating parts of the game.
How we make sure a deal is winnable
Our deals come from a bank of several hundred shuffles for each mode. A computer solver played each one through to the end, and the winning line was replayed with the real game rules to double-check it. Only deals that passed go into the bank. Draw 1 and Draw 3 have separate banks, because a deal that is winnable in Draw 1 may not be in Draw 3.
A deal being winnable does not mean every move works: you can still play yourself into a corner. Unlimited ↶ Undo lets you step back and try another way, and 💡 Hint suggests a useful move.
Prefer pure chance?
Switch off “Winnable deals only” on the start screen or in Settings for completely random shuffles, as in the original game.

Are the deals random?
They are random shuffles that were checked to be winnable, picked at random from the bank.
